Born in Ordu in 1994, Arda Büyük drew attention from an early age with his connection to drawing. As a child, he intrigued his teachers by being able to draw figures in reverse. He began his art education at Ordu Anatolian Fine Arts High School and completed it at Trakya University Faculty of Fine Arts Education.
His artistic journey has taken him into a multi-layered atmosphere. He developed a unique visual language that blends elements of popular culture with the technical possibilities of contemporary painting. In his compositions, the interplay of line, paint, and space sometimes turns into a stage, sometimes into a projection of memory. Within a figurative yet decidedly unconventional narrative, his characters wink at the viewer as both familiar and imaginative beings. His paintings walk a bold line between naivety and irony, figuration and abstraction. They bear witness to both a personal internal memory and the transformation of collective cultural imagery. With solo exhibitions such as “Symbio” and “Amorphe,” the artist continues his work at his studio in Beyoğlu.
