Born in Istanbul in 1995, Mehtap Yayla graduated from Ordu Anatolian Fine Arts High School and completed her undergraduate studies at Trakya University Faculty of Fine Arts Education. Behind the seemingly familiar humor in her works lies a multi-layered narrative that questions both societal and individual conflicts. In her compositions, the figures are not merely representations, but allegorical embodiments of the modern individual's inner turmoil. Her brushwork creates an illusion that pushes the boundaries of reality. The layered paint textures sometimes overflow onto the surface with intensity, while at other times they become almost transparent, evoking a faded memory. These contrasts establish not only an aesthetic but also a conceptual balance in her paintings. The fluid interplay between reality and fiction, naivety and seriousness, the popular and the historical, forms the foundation of her artistic practice.
